This Arduino-compatible WiFi shield is based on the TI CC3000 wireless network processor. It provides 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g networking through an SPI interface and is intended for compatible legacy Arduino projects, learning systems and network-connected prototypes.
The CC3000 is an older WiFi platform. Confirm that a compatible library, example code and supported router security mode are available before selecting it for a new project. The shield uses SPI, so check the required chip-select and interrupt pins for the connected UNO, Mega, Leonardo or Micro-compatible board.
